This vivid red fire truck has many functions
including flashing dome lights, and headlights and taillights operated
by separate switches. It also features a three section extendable aerial
ladder that completely swivels. The coin slot is under the ladder. The
truck has outstanding detail including silver (and in this truck's case,
gold) chrome and authentic black rubber tires bearing the HESS name. You
can see how the gold chrome is different from the silver in the lower
right picture below. The gold chrome is actually a manufacturing flaw,
though some have sold these as special limited editions. The same is
true for the 1987 and 1988 trucks with gold trim.
